In well drained, often dry, open areas with patchy vegetation, coastal sand dunes, lowland inland flood plains, tussock grasslands, under stones, under debris, in New Zealand found at base of Festuca novaezelandiae, Muehlenbeckia and Coprosoma, overwinters as adult.
