Extra Ecological Information
Adult bites humans and feed on cattle, amphibians, reptiles, birds, sheep, goats and dogs; adults collected in ice-baited traps; isolation of Barmah Forest virus in mosquitoes collected on the south coast of NSW; larva found in vegetated ground pools such as swamps, pond margins, roadside seepage ponds, shaded pools, rock pools, ponded streams, pits, creeks with overhanging vegetation and slow streams with emergent and marginal vegetation.
