Larva: aquatic.
Extra Ecological Information
Adult female does not normally bite humans but may feed on birds and rabbits; adults taken from rabbit burrows; capable of carrying Murray Valley encephalitis virus under laboratory conditions and may be involved in transmission between animals; larva found in open swamps, grassy ground pools, drainage pits, waterholes and artificial containers such as tanks, troughs and wells; can tolerate brackish and polluted water.
