Introduction

Up to six subspecies of C. caudicinctus have been previously recognised (e.g., Storr, 1967; Cogger, 2014). However Melville et al. (2016) reviewed the species complex and raised four subspecies to the species level (C. caudicinctus, C. infans, C. slateri & C. graafi), with the two remaining subspecies being synonymised, C. c. mensarum as a junior synonym of C. caudicinctus, and C. c. macropus as junior synonym of C. slateri.
