Species Stratiolaelaps scimitus (Womersley, 1956)
Introduction
This species has frequently been confused with S. miles (Berlese). For a detailed analysis of these and other related species, see Walter & Campbell (2003). It now appears that the true S. miles does not occur in Australia, despite frequent uses of this name. Stratiolaelaps scimitus is sold commercially as a biological control agent, under the name Stratiolaelaps (Hypoaspis) nr miles (Llewellyn, 2002). Colloff et al. (2013) recorded specimens in the Stratiolaelaps miles group from South Australia, but did not identify the species.
