Holotype ANIC(MMUS) ♀ adult (specimen damaged when described), Middle Harbour, near Sydney, NSW
Comment: Holotype female marked: “C. imperfectus female type, F. A. A. Skuse. Spaniotoma (Smittia) imperfectus (Skuse det. R. H. Schachton (?) Ceratopogon imperfectus Sk. Female. Type. N. B. This is a chironomid not a ceratopogonid – D. J. Lee 1946.” Ferrington & Saether 2011: 9.
