Genus Coluzea Finlay in Allan, 1926

  • Coluzea Finlay in Allan, 1926 [the name Coluzea appears, without being declared new, in a paper by Allan, who thanked Finlay and Marwick for assistance with the identifications of molluscs. Modern New Zealand authors credit Coluzea to Finlay, who explicitly established Coluzea as a new genus, in a paper published two weeks later in the same journal [23 December 1926, Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute, 57: 407, 477]. However, in Allan's paper, only two species names are associated with Coluzea, namely Fusus climacotus Suter, 1917 and F. dentatus Hutton, 1877, whereas Finlay declared the type species of Coluzea to be Fusus spiralis A. Adams].
    Type species:
Fusus dentatus Hutton, 1877 by subsequent designation, see Wenz, W. 1941. Handbuch der Paläozoologie. Band 6, Gastropoda. Berlin : Gebrüder Borntraeger Teil 5 pp. 961-1200. [1086].
