Indo-west Pacific. Wilson (1993) gives the range of this species as Abrolhos, WA, northwards around northern Australia to southern Queensland. There are not specimens available to support this continuous range in northern WA and NT. Hawaii, Australia, Japan, to Mozambique and Mauritius
