Ecological Descriptors

Larva bores in stems of saplings of many plants. Larval foodplants: include Syzygium smithii, Callistemon, Eucalyptus, (Myrtaceae); Callicoma serratifolia (Cunionaceae); Trema aspera (Ulmaceae); Casuarina (Casuarinaceae); Dodonaea (Sapindaceae); Lantana camara (Verbenaceae); Pandorea pandorana (Bignoniaceae); Rubus (Rosaceae). Unlike other Aenetus, the larva retains intact at pupation the silk and sawdust web which covers the entrance to the larval bore, rather than destroying the web.
