    Comment: Fruhstorfer in the original description mentioned a series of specimens from several localities.

     Holotype BMNH (Stichel referred to Oberthür's text; Oberthür did not describe his aberration but did illustrate it, he did not indicate the number of specimens on which the illustration was based), Port Darwin (in original description).

    Comment: Waterhouse, G.A. 1936. [unpublished personal manuscript of observations made at the BMNH (Satyridae, Nymphalidae)]. Photocopy located at ANIC, Canberra, ACT. [16] (stated that Oberthür had two specimens but the second was not as aberrant as the first; the first specimen was the illustrated one and this is taken as evidence that one specimen was illustrated).
