Species Cerberonoton severina (Miskin, 1891)

Generic Combinations

Introduction

This species was widely treated as a subspecies of Meganoton rubescens (Butler, 1876) following Rothschild & Jordan (1903)(as M. rufescens (Butler, 1875), an unavailable name). Based on the molecular results of Rougerie (2014), and morphological differences, Moulds et al. (2020) treat C. severina as a distinct species, with C. rubescens not recorded from Australia. We follow the classification of Moulds et al. (2020) here.
