The earliest record of C. (I.) nigrescens is from a station within 3' longitude of Coulman Is. where three pieces are supposed to have been dredged from 549 m, Jan. 1841 or Feb. 1842 by the Erebus and Terror Antarctic Expedition in the Ross Sea, see Ridewood, W.G. 1921.
