Larva: herbivore (associated flora: Dendrolobium umbellatum (L.) Benth. [FABACEAE] Horse Bush; Cajanus reticulatus (Aiton) F.Muell. [FABACEAE]; Crotalaria alata D.Don [FABACEAE]; Flemingia lineata (L.) W.T.Aiton [FABACEAE]).

Catochrysops panormus panormus (C. Felder, 1860)

Lycaena panormus Felder, C. 1860. Lepidopterorum Amboinensium species novae diagnosibus collustratae. I. Rhopalocera. 448–468 in Frauenfeld, G.R. Diagnosen einiger neuer Insecten und Untersuchung mehrerer Sandproben verschiedener Küstenpunkte gesammelt während der Reise Sr. Mag. Fregatte Novara. Sitzungsberichte der Akademie der Wissenschaften in Wien 40(11): 447–468 [455].
Type data: lectotype BMNH *; Felder in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described and did not mention a type.
Subsequent designation: Parsons, M.J. 1998. The Butterflies of Papua New Guinea; their systematics and biology. San Diego : Academic Press 736 pp. [454] (referred to a holotype); Edwards, E.D., Newland, J. & Regan, L. 2001. Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea. In Wells, A. & Houston, W.W.K. Type locality: Ambon (designated in original description, in title to paper), see Parsons op. cit. [454] (gave the type label as indicating Ambon).
