Family CYMBULIIDAE Gray, 1840

Introduction

Cymbuliids have no calcareous shell as adults. The animal fits into a transparent pseudoconch which provides stability as well as buoyancy. In Cymbulia and Corolla a sheet-like mucous feeding web is used to collect planktonic food. Compiled from Beesley et. al. (1998).
