Family CYCLOTORNIDAE

Compiler and date details

Ebbe S. Nielsen

Introduction

(After Nielsen 1996: 149) The family was established by Meyrick (1912) and contains the single genus Cyclotorna Meyrick confined to Australia. Five species have been described and several undescribed species are known. Species occur throughout mainland Australia. The family was associated with the Zygaenoidea by Common (1970).

The remarkable larvae are parasitic on leaf hoppers and ant brood and details of their biology may be found in Dodd (1912) and Common (1990).
