Introduction
Colobometrids are circum-tropical in distribution. The family includes 18 genera, 10 of which are recorded in Australian waters, represented by 15 species.
Colobometridae are distinguished from other comatulid families by the following combination of character states: arms ten or more; pinnule combs absent; middle and distal cirrus segments with a pair (or more) of dorsal spines or tubercles, one each side of the midline, occasionally one or two transverse ridges.
