Family CHEIROCRATIDAE Ren, 2006
Introduction
The family Cheirocratidae was recently named officially by Ren (2006) in the first volume of his monograph on the amphipods of China. There are currently six genera in the family. They were not recorded from Australia until Barnard and Drummond (1982) documented them from Port Phillip in southern Victoria. Coleman and Lowry (2009) recently recorded cheirocratids from Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Nothing is known about their biology.
