Introduction
The Charontidae have been delimited recently to only two genera, Charon and Stygophrynus, by Quintero (1986). Both genera are found in South-East Asia, but Charon is now known to occur in northern Australia and on the Australian Indian Ocean territory of Christmas Island (Harvey & West 1998).
