Introduction
The family Charitometridae comprises eight genera from the subtropical and tropical Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean regions. Three genera are recorded in Australian waters, represented by six species.
This family is similar to Ptilometridae, Asterometridae and Thalassometridae but members are distinguished by having short, stout cirri with less than 25 segments and bearing no dorsal processes.
