Introduction
The Caudinidae are a cosmopolitan family of four genera, including three recorded in Australian waters. Twelve species are recorded in the Australian fauna.
The family Caudinidae is similar to the Molpadiidae within the order Molpadiida, but is distinguished by the following combination of character states: ossicles represented by large tables or plates or small crossed cups; no phosphatic bodies; tentacles with two pairs of digits but no terminal digit.
