Introduction

The Australian species of Proctolaelaps were reviewed by Halliday et al. (1998). Beaulieu & Weeks (2007) reviewed the state of knowledge and ecological significance of this group in Australia. In addition to the named species listed here, unidentified species of Proctolaelaps have been reported from Australia by Costa (1975), Malipatil & Blyth (1982), Stone & Simpson (1990), Beaulieu et al. (2006) and Proctor et al. (2011).
