Type genus:
Bladina Stål, 1859.
Introduction
This subfamily was originally created for part of the Nogodinidae, considered to be a subfamily of the Ricaniidae by several early workers. The Australian fauna are placed in the tribe Gaetuliini and comprise nine species in five genera, four of which are endemic except for one which has a species introduced to New Zealand. The fifth genus, Gaetulia Stål, has species distributed in Central America and Australia which is almost certainly an indication that two separate genera are included since no other Australian Fulgoromorpha has such a distribution.
Diagnosis
Frons not wider than long, lateral margins of clypeus keeled (Kirkaldy 1907).
Third valvula of ovipositor broadly rounded, more or less tumid, in posterior view almost circular or pentagonal in outline, with a short, darker, minutely rugose or denticulate tract at middle of apical margin, or with entire apical margin membranous, papery (Fennah (1978).
