B. plagioscia was given priority by Turner (1904c) as first reviser. Holloway (1987) made it clear that B. plagioscia (Turner) is not closely related to other species of Birthamoides. He was unable to place it in an alternative genus but suggested a relationship with Pygmaeomorpha Bethune-Baker)
