Separatum published 1768) (Upsala). 497–506 pp. [later published in Amoenitates Academicae 1769 Holmiae : Laurentii Salvii Vol. 7 Pt 150 pp. 497–506] [504] [later published in Amoenitates Academicae 1769 Holmiae : Laurentii Salvii Vol. 7 Pt 150 pp. 497–506; previously attributed to Sparrman, a pupil of Linnaeus; Papilio java was described in Sparrman's thesis published in Linnaeus, C. (1768) Iter in Chinam, however, following convention of the times authorship was given to Linnaeus; see Corbet, A.S. 1941. The Linnaean names of Indo-Australian Rhopalocera. Pts 1, 2. Type data: type status and whereabouts unknown sex unknown; Linnaeus in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described; Corbet, A.S. 1941.
