Family BASILOBELBIDAE Balogh, 1961

Introduction

In the classification of Schatz et al. (2011), the family Basilobelbidae includes two genera and 19 species world-wide. The family is distributed throughout the tropics, but is most diverse in south and southeast Asia (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009; Subias 2011). The single known Australian species is itself pantropical in distribution, and has been collected in soil in a sugar plantation in Queensland. The available information on this species was summarised by Colloff & Halliday (1998).
