  • Azorinus Récluz, 1869 [Actes de la Société Linnéenne de Bordeaux, 27(1): 67; unjustified emendation of Azor Leach in Gray, 1852. Treated as a valid name by Rehder, 1944, Proceedings of the Malacological Society of London, 26(1): 22, and subsequent authors].
    Type species:
     Solen coarctatus Gmelin, 1791 by monotypy.

 

Introduction

According to the Australian Museum reference collection another species identified as Azorinus coarctatus is present in QLD and NT. Huber (2010: 705) states that A. coarctatus is nom. dub. and the name A. abbreviatus needs to be used for the Indo-Pacific. The Australian Museum material needs to be re-identified to be confirmed.
