Introduction

Tasmaphena lamproides is characterised by a distinctly angulate whorl edge and relatively strong radial sculpture. The species is very variable in shell size between populations and is generally larger than other Tasmaphena species.

Predator, tall closed forest.

 

Diagnosis

Shell medium to large, radially streaked yellowish-amber, trochoidal with moderately raised spire; protoconch with vague radial ripples, teleoconch sculpture of crowded anastomising radial ribs above with weaker radial threads on underside which overlay very weak spiral striae; whorls keeled with a sulcus above keel; umbilicus moderately wide, V-shaped; diameter 12-24mm.
