Genus Aspila Stephens, 1834

Introduction

Building on comments from earlier workers casting doubt on the monophyly of the genus Grapholita, Hu et al. (2023) presented further (molecular) evidence suggesting the genus was not monophyletic. Their results revealed three separate clades which they recognised at the genus level: Grapholita (sensu stricto), Ephippiphora, and Aspila, the latter previously a sub-genus of Grapholita and which is raised to genus level here following Hu et al. (2023).
