Genus Anachloris Meyrick, 1885

Introduction

It is very likely that Anachloris does not belong to the Hydromenini on the basis of characteristcs of the skeleletomuscular system and the structure of the female genitalia (Schmidt 2001). However Young (2006) noted that the eggs of A. uncinata resemble those of the Nearctic hydriomenine Eulithis Hübner. This neither supports nor refutes Schmidt's hypothesis as the eggs of Hydromenini are renowned for their heterogeneity (Salkeld 1983). More research on the limits of Hydromenini and taxa related to Anachloris is needed before its tribal placement can be confirmed.
