Voyage au Pôle Sud et dans l'Océanie sur les Corvettes l'Astrolabe et la Zélée; exécuté par ordre du Roi pendant les années 1837–1838–1839–1840, sous le commandement de M.J. Dumont-d'Urville, Capitaine de vaisseau; publié par ordre du Gouvernement, sous la direction supérieure de M. Jacquinot, capitaine de vaisseau, commandant de la Zélée. Zoologie. Description des Insectes. Atlas. Paris : E. Thunot 25 pls (3 pls butterflies). [pl. 3 figs 11, 12] [this name has been attributed to Boisduval by Australian authors following Evans (1957); it was illustrated on the same plate as Thecla chlorinda Blanchard in [1848] and described on the preceding page but one in 1853 also by Blanchard; the title page of the zoology section of the original publication gave no evidence of authorship by Boisduval but authorship was attributed to Blanchard; in the early Australian literature the species was mentioned by Miskin, W.H. (1874). Note on "A catalogue of the described diurnal Lepidoptera of Australia" by Mr George Masters, of the Sydney Museum. Trans. Entomol. Soc. Lond. 1874: 241–246, and correctly attributed to Blanchard].
Type data: syntypes whereabouts unknown ♂*; Blanchard in the original illustrations did not indicate the number of specimens depicted but he did give a range in size implying there were more than one; Parsons, M.J. 1998. The Butterflies of Papua New Guinea; their systematics and biology. San Diego : Academic Press 736 pp. [391] (referred unjustifiably to a holotype).
