Introduction

This subfamily is well represented in the Oriental region with numerous species of Scamandra, Penthicodes and Aphaena. It is also well represented in Australia, particularly with the boldly marked species of Desudaba Walker. The Australian fauna appears to be endemic or shared with New Guinea.

 

Diagnosis

Tête beaucoup plus étroite que le pronotum. Front et vertex séparés par une rainure plus ou moins large. En avant des yeux, une carène ou une protubérance transversale. Front plus long que large, émettant ordinairement un prolongement dirigé vers l'arrière; ou bien gracile et libre, ou bien épais, s'écrasant sur le vertex (Lallemand 1963).
