Introduction

Annabellia is readily distinguished from Austrorhytida by the combination of a more globose shaped shell, mostly smooth protoconch and a teleoconch with bolder radial ribs.

Diagnosis

Shell medium-sized, subglobose to subdiscoidal with a low-domed spire, last whorl flared; protoconch smooth with vestigial radial ridges visible only at the suture; upper whorl surface usually with bold radial ribs and few, scattered discontinuous spiral striae, underside of whorls smooth or with weak spiral striae; lip simple; umbilicus narrow, V-shaped. Colour yellow to deep reddish-brown.
