Extra Distribution Information
Darwin, Vernon Is., Shoal Bay, Cape Hotham, Parry Shoals, Arafura Sea, NT; Low Isles, Margrove Park, GBR, Qld; also Indo-Malayan region (Java and Lesser Sunda Is), and Indian Ocean (Providence Reef, Amirante). Subtidal to 17 m depth; sandy mud substrates, seagrass. Includes Darwin record of Amorphinopsis foetida sensu Hooper et al. (1997: 28) (Not Hymeniacidon (?) foetida Dendy, 1889). Amorphinopsis fenestrata is common throughout the Northern Territory coast (Sahul Province), from Parry Shoals (NW of Darwin Harbour) to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The records of Lindgren (1897, 1898) from Vietnam and China, of Dendy (1922) from the Indian Ocean and of Burton (1928) from the Malay Archipelago need to be verified (Alvarez & Hooper 2011).
