Adult a common day-biter and readily attacks humans; adults caught in window traps; considered the probable vector of Dengue in the Madang area of Papua New Guinea; larva found in cavities in buttress roots, papaya, spathes and leaves, fallen coconut fronds, leaf axils of taro and Pandanus [Pandanaceae], tree holes of mangrove and Poinciana [Caesalpiniaceae] trees, bamboo stumps, split bamboo, coconut shells and husks, clam shells, crab holes, rot holes, lava rock, pools in coral stone, transient pools, puddles and artificial containers such as barrels, cans, oil drums, drains and wells; for extensive biological information see Lee et al.
