Ecological Descriptors

Adult: pest, volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult vicious daytime and dusk biter and attacks humans, domestic animals, marsupials, rabbits and birds, collected in dry-ice baited traps, minor pest in/near bushland areas, possible vector of myxomatosis with isolation of myxoma virus from collections; larva found in temporary and semi-permanent rainwater collections, swamps, waterholes, creekline rock pools, ground pools, backwaters, roadside ditches, lodgings over grassy meadows, shaded gullies and large artificial containers.
