Comment: the figures do not relate to any known New Zealand species and the status of Pteronarcella atra 1921 is still confused; the genus Pteronarcella, in the family Pteronarcyidae, is known only from N America and Acruroperla, the genus erected by Illies, J. 1969. Revision der Plecopterenfamilie Austroperlidae. Entomologisk Tidskrift 90: 19–51 [42] to contain Australian representatives of atra, is not known from New Zealand.Type locality references:
