Genus Acrasis Van Tieghem, 1880

Diagnosis

Small amoebae moving by eruptive protrusions from a hemispherical anterior lobopodium. No flagellate stage known. Upon starvation, cells aggregate and produce cysts/spores in an erect chain ('fruiting body'); individual cysts approximately spherical, without excystment pores.
