(1996: 307) as synonyms under this species, but with no indication of the original species.)

Walker (1858c) chose Achaea mercatoria (Fabricius, 1794) to have precedence over A. vulpina (Fabricius, 1794). He was obviously unaware that both names had been published simultaneously by Fabricius (1775). Poole (1989) gave precedence to A. mercatoria (Fabricius, 1775) over A. vulpina (Fabricius, 1775). It is possible that an earlier first reviser can be found)
