Species Aceria tulipae (Keifer, 1938)
- Eriophyes tulipae Keifer, H.H. 1938. Eriophyid studies. Bulletin of the California Department of Agriculture 27: 181-206.
Introduction
Aceria tulipae (Keifer, 1938) has often been confused with Aceria tosichella Keifer, 1969. It is now known that A. tulipae occurs only on bulb-forming plants such as onions and ornamental bulbs. Aceria tosichella occurs only on grasses, and is the vector of wheat streak mosaic virus (Amrine & Stasny 1994). Both species are the subject of a very extensive literature, which is reviewed by Lindquist et al. (1996). Information about the occurrence of both species in Australia was reviewed by Halliday & Knihinicki (2004).
