Introduction
The large family Antedonidae is cosmopolitan and comprises 52 genera, seven of which are recorded in Australian waters. Sixteen species are recorded in the Australian fauna.
The antedonids are a family in the order Comatulida, distinguished from others by the following combination of character states: basals transformed into a rosette, five or rarely 10 radials; arms divided at primibranch 2; syzygy at brachials 3+4 and generally 9+10; distal brachials wedge-shaped; mouth central, anus excentric.
