Family AEROGLYPHIDAE Zakhvatkin, 1941
Introduction
The family Aeroglyphidae includes 19 described species world-wide, most of which are found in bat guano in caves. Some species have been found in the nests of birds, mammals and insects, and others occur in stored grain, where they may become significant pests. They also occur as a component of the fauna of house dust, and may contribute to allergy in humans (OConnor 2009). The Australian fauna includes three species in the cosmopolitan genus Glycycometus, all of which have previously been placed in Austroglycyphagus, as well as the stored food mite Aeroglyphus robustus.
