Family ADHAESOZETIDAE Hammer, 1973

Introduction

The family Adhaesozetidae includes two genera and four species that occur in Australasia and Japan (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009; Schatz et al. 2011). All the species appear to be arboreal on deciduous trees, and seem to occur preferentially on plants with hairy leaves. Both genera and three of the four known species occur in Australia. The most important recent taxonomic work on the family was by Behan-Pelletier & Walter (2007), who described one of the genera and two of the known species, from leaves and twigs of trees at several sites in eastern Australia. The placement of the family Adhaesozetidae in the Licneremaeoidea remains provisional, and was not accepted by Subias (2011).
