Family ACTEONIDAE d'Orbigny, 1843
Type genus:
Acteon Montfort, 1810.
Introduction
Acteonids have thick shells sculptured with close spirals of punctae, and the spire is short. The animal can retract within the shell and close the aperture with its horny operculum.
