Introduction
The genus name Nitocrellopsis was first established by Petkovski (1976) but as he did not designated a type species, the name was unavailable (in accordance with ICZN. 1999. Article 13.3). In 1999 Galassi et al. described a new species of Nitocrellopsis, which they designated as the type species of the genus, and provided a rediagnosis of the genus. These actions made the generic name available with their authorship (Karanovic, 2010). For more details see Karanovic (2010)
