   Holotype QM ♂ (coll.: 20.iv.1968, T. Weir), North Stradbroke Island, Queensland.

 

Introduction

This species from the southeastern parts of the mainland is fairly plain in colouring and identifiable only by examination of the male genitalia. Webb (1983) indicates that females from Victoria, collected with a male of this species, differ in coloration from the male and he was unable to confirm their identity.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

This species is similar to R. leurensis (Evans) and R. galonda Webb externally but differs from the former in lacking a spot on the vertex near each eye and from the latter in its generally larger size (length ♂ 6.0–6.8 mm). The male genitalia differs from those of both species in having the aedeagus with a flange near each side of the gonopore and the processes from the anterior margin are stouter (Webb 1983).
