Family TERANYSSIDAE Halliday, 2006
Introduction
The endemic Australian family Teranyssidae includes a single genus and species found in termite nests and on the bodies of termites, at several localities in the Northern Territory. The family is provisionally placed in the superfamily Rhodacaroidea, but that decision will be reviewed when further species in related groups are discovered. The single known species has morphological features that suggest it is a parasite on its termite hosts, but that has not been confirmed (Halliday 2006).
