Holotype SAMA M3582 partial skull with mandible (Wakefield, N.A. 1967. Some taxonomic revision in the Australian marsupial genus Bettongia (Macropodidae), with description of a new species. Victorian Naturalist 84: 8–22 3 pls 1 map [11] showed the holotype to be a specimen of Bettongia lesueur and not B. penicillata), near McEwin Hills, Lake MacKay area, NT.
Introduction
McDowell et al. (2015) elevated B. penicillata anhydra to full species status, based on comprehensive morphological and molecular analyses. Bettongia anhydra is presumed extinct.
