Introduction

Scagacola subcavernula is distinguished from S. cavernula by the combination of smaller umbilicus and teleoconch sculpture dominated by spiral and oblique striations.

Ecological Descriptors

Dry vine thickets, under logs, under rocks.

 

Diagnosis

Shell medium-sized to large, yellow with darker radial streaks, subdiscoidal with a low spire; protoconch smooth apart from some oblique striations at the end, teleoconch sculpture of very weak radial ribs, prominent at the suture, spiral striae and irregular oblique striations; umbilicus moderately wide, V-shaped; diameter 20mm.
