Species Drosophila (Sophophora) pandora McEvey & Schiffer, 2015

Introduction

This species has, since the 1970s, been confused in Australia with Drosophila ananassae, see, for example: Bock (1977); Parsons & Bock (1979); Tribe & Bock (1981); McEvey (1982); McEvey & Bock (1982); & Schug et al. (2007). This species has also been recorded as: Drosophila “papuensis-like” by Tomimura et al. (1993) & Matsuda et al. (2009); Drosophila nr ironensis by van Klinken & Walter (2001) [north Queensland & Northern Territory]; & Drosophila nr ananassae by van Klinken et al. (2002) [Northern Territory].
