Introduction

This species is reasonably widespread in eastern Australia from the wet tropics of North Queensland to Victoria. Webb (1983) designated four male and four female paratypes from South Australia but did not indicate a locality.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Colour as in R. crofta Webb but markings on head and thorax usually paler, legs without brown markings and female with ovipositor yellow to scarlet. Male genitalia similar to those of R. crofta but styles with apical process shorter and preapical angle narrow; aedeagus with basal stem narrow throughout length and anterior processes from dorsal margin stouter. Female genitalia as in R. cuprea (Walker) [with teeth of second valvulae extended to near midlength of valvulae; expanded apex of third valvulae about half length of narrow basal region and extended about half its length beyond pygophore] (Webb 1983).
